Construction Delay Analysis Using 4D BIM: A Case Study in the Context of Bangladeshi Construction Industry.

Abstract:

The aim of this research is to reduce the amount of construction delay in the context of Bangladeshi construction projects using 4D BIM-based simulation technology. At first, a questionnaire was prepared through an extensive literature review. A physical survey was conducted for three types of projects: governmental projects, joint projects, private projects, and statistical analysis was run to rank the delay factors. Furthermore, a framework was proposed using a 4D BIM platform which mainly focused on the Pre-Construction Phase and Execution Phase of a project. In continuation, a case study was performed to validate the framework. Using the framework, I have successfully achieved up to a 15% reduction of delay for projects impacted by design and improper training delays. There is a substantial lack in integrating automated approaches with traditional approaches followed in construction projects. Using the aforementioned method will surely help reduce this gap and enhance productivity for construction sector.
